7 facts about 7 Caribbean islands
I have generated this report, which is actually just a list of facts about each of the listed Caribbean islands, just something interesting for everyone.
Antigua has become a big tourist resort but do you actually know what the word “Antigua” means? Antigua literally means ancient in Spain, Christopher Columbus named this island so in testament to a cathedral in Santa Maria!
Do you know what the National Flower of Barbados is? This Hibiscus flower is very rare and it has been named the “Pride of Barbados” a very pretty yellow flower.
St Lucia wasn’t always the luxury holiday location it is today, it was an island of war. The British and the French went to war over this island at least 14 times, earning it its name “Helen of the West Indies”.
What would be your guess if i asked you to estimate how many people lived on the small island of Jamaica, i bet you get it wrong. Odds are that you are completely wrong, after all it is hard to guess anyway, but it more than 500,000 lets put it that way? I doubt that you were very close, the number you are trying to find is somewhere in the region of 3 million!
Cuba is very much a misunderstood state, although some points are true, there are others that are quite interesting to note. Cuba is the country that can quite easily hold up its hands and say that it is the most culturally diverse in the Caribbean, which is interesting especially when you think about the strong regime in control!
Grenada has a lot of natural beauty, much like the island of St Lucia, and it has tried to use this to it’s advantage to exploit tourism. One thing you probably don’t know is that Grenada has an attribute much like that of Zanzibar, it is a Spice Isle. This island is so unique, because this is the leading producer of the spice in the Caribbean, and even supplies some of the world.
Finally we have Bermuda, well without stating the obvious superstitious stuff about this place, let’s find out something else. Everyone assumes that Bermuda is one island when in actual fact they couldn’t be more wrong, this “area” actually consists of 138 small islands and 1 main land.
